The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China (MOHURD) released the lists of outstanding units and individuals during the 13th China (Xuzhou) International Garden Expo (hereafter referred to as the Garden Expo). Guangzhou Landscape Architecture Co., Ltd. (Landscape Architecture Company) and Guangzhou Landscape Architecture Design & Research Institute (GLADR) of Guangzhou Municipal Construction Group Co., Ltd. (GMC), Xie Chulong, Secretary of the Party General Branch and Chairman of the GLADR, and Fang Xiaofeng, Project Head of the Landscape Architecture Company, were included on the lists.

The Garden Expo is the highest-level event in the garden and flower industry held by the MOHURD and local governments. Designed by GLADR and built by Landscape Architecture Company, the Guangzhou Exhibition Garden won four awards, including the Excellent Exhibition Garden, Excellent Exhibition Garden in Design, Excellent Exhibition Garden in Construction, and Excellent Exhibition Garden in Indoor Exhibition.

The Guangzhou Exhibition Garden, with the theme of "Representative of Guangdong, Bay of Oasis", is designed to reproduce the unique life scenes on the land south of the Five Ridges and show the characteristics of Guangzhou as a City of Flowers. As the southern and northern venues are long and narrow, the Guangzhou Exhibition Garden consists of three exhibition areas built from south to north, including the Baihua Yingbin Area, the Huadao Diewu Area, and the Huayang Qingyi Area. These areas are designed with progressively layered main axes and a regular spatial layout with clear sections, each of which is in accordance with the theme of flowers, displaying the new gardening style of the land south of the Five Ridges.
