On February 21, the "Evaluation Report on the High-quality Development of Science and Technology Enterprises in Guangzhou" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was released by Guangzhou Daily Data & Digit Institute (GDI Think Tank). It consists of four lists, namely the "List of Top 100 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for High-quality Development", the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for R&D Investment", the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for Innovation", and the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou Benchmarking S&T Enterprises".

The Report covers central state-owned enterprises, provincial and municipal state-owned enterprises and private enterprises headquartered in Guangzhou. In the "List of Top 100 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for High-quality Development" and the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for R&D Investment", GMC ranks eighth and third respectively. In addition, an affiliated enterprise to GMC is included in the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou Benchmarking S&T Enterprises" and four affiliated enterprises are included in the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for Innovation".

"Hard Power" of GMC

In the "List of Top 100 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for High-quality Development" that evaluates the innovation ability, R&D investment, scientific and technological achievement awards and economic strength of enterprises, GMC ranks eighth.

In terms of innovation, GMC has many innovation platforms, such as 46 high-tech enterprises, 13 innovative small and medium-sized enterprises at the provincial level, 11 specialized, sophisticated, distinctive and innovative enterprises at the provincial level, 5 national post-doctoral scientific research workstations, 2 provincial doctoral workstations, 1 national enterprise technology center, 1 national engineering center, 28 provincial engineering centers, 13 provincial enterprise technology centers, 2 Guangdong provincial innovative enterprises, 1 Guangdong provincial new R&D institution, and 1 Guangdong provincial academician enterprise workstation.

For strengthening research investment, GMC approved 169 key scientific and technological R&D projects from 2019 to 2022, with a subsidy and supporting investment of nearly RMB 800 million. At the same time, with an investment of RMB 35.2 million, it carried out industry-university-research cooperation with nine academician teams, including Academician Nie Jianguo at Tsinghua University, Academician Zhu Hehua at Tongji University, Academician Ding Lieyun at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Academician Zhou Fulin at Guangzhou University, and Academician Du Yanliang at Shenzhen University, and held a number of academician forums. As a result, the tremendous investment in research and development made GMC the top three in the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for R&D Investment".

In scientific and technological achievement awards, GMC has won 1 second prize for National Technological Invention, 6 National Science and Technology Progress Awards (including 5 second prizes and 1 third prize), 4 awards for Excellent Chinese Patent, and 774 provincial and ministerial awards for scientific and technological progress. Thanks to the company's efforts in promoting scientific and technological innovation, it has created more high-quality projects. In 2022, GMC won 17 state-level quality awards, including 3 National Quality Engineering Awards, 4 China Architectural Engineering Decoration Awards and 10 Science and Technology Awards of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture.

With respect to its economic strength, GMC completed an output value of RMB 290.6 billion in 2022, with an operating revenue of RMB 264.1 billion and a total profit and tax of RMB 8.7 billion. Meanwhile, it was once again included in the list of Fortune Global 500 enterprises, ranking 360^th, up 100 places from 2021, becoming the world's most improved architecture and engineering enterprise.

Subsidiaries Also Hit the Top of the List

The "List of Top 50 Guangzhou Benchmarking S&T Enterprises" is mainly evaluated in terms of the innovation ability, R&D investment, and scientific and technological achievement awards of enterprises, in which Guangzhou Construction Co., Ltd. is ranked 37^th.

In the "List of Top 50 Guangzhou S&T Enterprises for Innovation" that mainly focuses on the growth potential of the total number of patented inventions, Guangzhou Engineering Contractor Group Co., Ltd., a subordinate of GMC, ranks 5^th, Guangzhou No.2 Municipal Engineering Group Co., Ltd. ranks 25^th, Guangzhou Construction Co., Ltd. ranks 27^th, and Guangzhou Hengsheng Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. ranks 44^th.
