On April 20, an inauguration ceremony was held for the official establishment of Qingyuan GMC Co., Ltd. and GMC (Qingyuan) Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. These joint ventures were established by Guangzhou Municipal Construction Group Co., Ltd. (GMC) and Guangzhou Municipal Group Co., Ltd. under GMC, along with Qingyuan Desheng Investment Group., Ltd. and Qingyuan State-owned Assets Investment Group Co., Ltd. The ceremony was attended by Wen Wenxing, deputy secretary of the CPC Qingyuan Municipal Committee and mayor of Qingyuan, and Liang Huqing, secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of GMC.

These two companies represent a significant step taken by state-owned enterprises in Guangzhou and Qingyuan delving deeper into the guiding principles of the CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions during his inspection in Guangdong. It also serves as a means to advance the integrated and high-quality development of Guangzhou and Qingyuan, as per the directives set forth by their respective governments.

Wen Wenxing expressed that Qingyuan is committed to enhancing coordination and services, offering proactive assistance to the two enterprises with any challenges or issues they face, while also striving to create an optimal environment for GMC in Qingyuan through genuine sincerity and outstanding service. He hoped that GMC will leverage its strengths in prefabricated buildings and green buildings, in combination with Qingyuan’s resources and industrial foundation, to help Qingyuan achieve high-quality development in its construction industry.

Liang Huqing said establishing these two enterprises aligns with GMC’s crucial decision in strategic restructuring and resource integration. This demonstrates GMC’s responsibility as a state-owned enterprise in fueling the development of the surrounding regions. He hoped for a sincere union of thoughts and actions among officials and employees of both enterprises to enable high-quality economic and social development in Guangzhou and Qingyuan. Their efforts could provide exemplary practices and models of urban construction for the integrated development of urban and rural areas. Furthermore, these enterprises should aim to become benchmarking entities with robust core competitiveness, making significant contributions to Qingyuan’s high-quality growth at the earliest.

The Guangzhou-Qingyuan integrated development strategy has led to an improved cooperation mechanism and platform between the Qingyuan Municipal People’s Government and GMC. In October 2022, a strategic cooperation framework agreement was signed between the two sides. This agreement aims to enhance the competitiveness of Qingyuan’s construction industry chain and promote joint ventures for investment, financing, construction, and operation of the urban infrastructure of Qingyuan. To further implement this framework agreement, Guangzhou Municipal Group under GMC and Qingyuan State-owned Assets Investment Group Co., Ltd. signed a Cooperation Intention Agreement in January 2023.

Other guests of the ceremony include Lin Kecong, vice mayor of Qingyuan, Mo Yuanfei, deputy general manager of GMC, Wu Shihui, assistant to general manager and general manager of Guangzhou Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., Wu Zhizheng, chairman of Guangzhou Municipal Group Co., Ltd., and Guo Yunfei, general manager of Guangzhou Municipal Group.
